Who says beauty products have to be named after flowers, foodstuffs and aspirational ideas? Certainly not avant-garde nailpolish brand Strange/Beautiful, which has recently launched a range of shades whose names suggest rather more bodily influences...

Colours in the brand's back-catalogue include Gradations of a Bruise, Estuary Run-off, and Menstral Last Day (sic), alongside marginally more predictable names like verdigris and wet shale. Each set of colours is themed and presented as a 'library of colour'. Their faceless maker does not even see the strange titles as being names for the products, presenting them instead as being defined by their influences:

"I find it thought provoking and stimulating to remember and refer to each color by its reference or inspiration", quoth the website...

Hey, at least it's a nicer name than Snoxin.
