Rather than sitting around, waiting and wondering and passively pining for flowers and chocolates this Valentines, why not manoeuvre your own Prince Charming Act of the Year. Not sure how? Take a leaf from the Streep Shimmy.
A great romantic tradition was maintained at this years BAFTAS when the beautiful and gracious Meryl Streep made the acceptance speech for her award for Iron Lady Best Actress. Didn't see it? Here's how it unfolded....
When Streep climbed to the stage and stepped up to the podium, she came out of her shoe, and rather than go back for it, she kept on walking, allowing Firth to step forward as Prince Charming. Right on cue, Firth swoonfully picked up Streep's Jimmy Choo stilletoed shoe, chivalrously getting down on one knee, putting it on her foot with more aplomb than Cinderella's wildest fantasies. Not missing a beat, Streep bless her, showed her gratitude by smooching him full on the lips. Hello Hello! And then, amidst a sea of jaw-dropping hip flicks and shoulder shimmies worthy of Deeta Von Teese, Streep posed with more pout and attitude than any diva in the house. "Go for it girl" we cried from our sofas along with the A-List audience who still reeling from the untimely death of Whitney Houston, were transfixed. Streep's sexually charged charmfest was the most memorable appearance ever.
But, and here's where it gets interesting - conspiracy theories are rife with the suggestion that Streep set the whole thing up, scheming for her chance to pounce on Firth and "get him at alone at the top of the stairs." Who could blame her? And whether she did or didn't, Streep showed us what it was to be sassy. She showed us how to make the most of an opportunity.
Why not create your own Streep Shimmy to make this Valentines special and memorable? Take a leaf out of her book and if you see an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone, grab it! Show your sassy side and get flirty, glance at someone a little longer than necessary, or give them a full on smooch when you get your Valentines wish. Do whatever it takes to get the Valentines flirt-fest you deserve. Don't wait for someone to make your Cinderella moment - use your charm and sass to make it happen!
