We're all for growing old disgracefully here at Dollymix, but the recent pictures of a 53-year-old Madonna cavorting on stage at the Superbowl this weekend have caused even the most open-minded viewers to consider whether she is perhaps a little old for thigh-length boots and fishnet tights. Interlude entertainment at the event provided by the singer (who herself has a teenage daughter) included Egyptian-style dancing, upside-down poses and suggestive up-close moves with dancers of both sexes. So what do you make of all this?
'Dressing your age' is a guideline rather than a rule for most people, and up to a point dressing 'old' can do more harm than good. A great many women I've known who have suddenly found the confidence to adopt a more youthful wardrobe have discovered to their surprise that not only can they pull off shorter skirts and bolder colours: they actaully look amazing in them too. But would you draw the line at a costume like the Madonna's get-up here?
