Diane Von Furstenberg or 'DVF' as she likes to be known has got to be one of the most kick-ass ladies out there, and we're huge fans of her aspirational yet frequently affordable clothes and accessories aimed at today's busy women, epitomised by the wrap dress. The DVF Awards are becoming a bit of an institution, set up by the New York designer just a year ago to celebrate the achievements of women across the world who are harnessing their skills to transform the lives of other women.
Every year, five awards are presented to women who have demonstrated leadership, strength and courage in their commitment to women's causes. Some are selected personally by Von Furstenberg and her team, but in the 'people's voice' award, members of the public are simply invited to visit the website and vote for the woman who inspires you most.
The nominees include Jennifer Valoppi of the Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program and Diane Latiker of the charity Kids Off the Block, Inc.
Von Furstenberg commented: "The People's Voice Awards have been a great success in the past two years," says von Furstenberg. "Last year, over 35,000 people voted online for the woman who inspired them! This year, we are proud to highlight four truly exceptional nominees who are doing incredible work on behalf of women."
The DVF award winners will be announced in NYC on 9th March 2012
