First 'Take Me Out' couple to marry

take-me-out-couple-to-marry.jpgIt's taken almost three years, but dating gameshow Take Me Out has finally spawned a wedding, it was announced today. Dan Nash and Dawn Edwards, who appeared on the show in 2010, have revealed that they have been an item since appearing on the quickfire 'date or dump' series, and got engaged recently. They also want host Paddy McGuinness to be a guest of honour at their upcoming ceremony...

Somehow, this piece of 'news' strikes me as odd not because a wedding is unlikely, but more the opposite: how can a show about dating have thus far been so unsuccessful in producing a real life relationship? With its regular cast of young people gagging for a date, you'd surely expect a little bit more of a hit-rate? Do these people want to stay single?

Perhaps the lack of real-life relationships has something more to do with the staged aspect of the show than its contestants' willingness to hook up with one another on an ongoing basis...we heard last year that twins Cat and Sam Wilkinson said they were 'stitched up' by producers of the show, who styled them in what they now claim was an 'unflattering' manner, with Poodle perms and identical costumes.

It later emerged that one of the show's hopeful 'hunks', Aaron Withers had worked as a male escort, who also happened to have a habit of punching women - only to emerge that the woman he had chosen for his date, Wen Jing Mo, was a former prostitute. Is the sound of wedding bells growing any fainter for you now?
