When a new season of fashion arrives on our doorstep, for most of us out there the first feeling is one of overwhelming panic - how am I going to transform my wardrobe for yet another season in order to fit in with this wide array of lust-worthy looks without getting into a serious amount of debt / getting arrested for robbing the entirety of Topshop's new arrivals / devoting all my time to trawling charity shops for hidden new season must-haves? The second feeling, which I fear I may be experiencing at the moment (had I not had the foresight to write this piece of course), is temptation; we find ourselves being lured in by the first few offerings of a new season without thinking more long term about the season as a whole.
This is why I've collected my top five new season buys which will take you right through Spring / Summer 2012. So here goes...
A Bucket Bag: Not only does this fit absolutely EVERYTHING in (if you're anything like me this is a god send) but the bigger the better and the more simplistic the more now it feels. Such a classic style you'll end up wearing season after season. This one from Mango for £34.99 is ideal.
The Sporty Trouser: Also mega useful in that they're ultra comfortable but works the huge sport luxe trend of Spring Summer 2012. Wear with relaxed and simplistic separates and finish with sport inspired heels. We love these ones from ASOS for £38.00.
The Summer Knit: Think sweet candy coloured shades and pastels in easy to wear shapes that you can team with flippy summer skirts or layer over dresses. This Acne one from my-wardrobe ticks all the boxes and although it is a little pricy it's well worth the investment at £220.00.
The Tropical Print: It may seem a little like it should be kept for a beach in Hawaii only, but the colourful and out there tropical print is set to be big this season. This floral themed printed blouse from Warehouse for £55.00 is an easy way to wear the trend and can be played up and down.
Drop Waist Dress: Tapping into a few of SS12's trends including 1920's Great Gatsby, the drop waist dress is easy to wear, super flattering and will look great all season long. Keep it simple with this Warehouse one for £55.00.
