"This commercial isn't real, neither are society's standards of beauty", says the creator of a satirical video that went viral this week. Highlighting the numerous techniques used to make women look younger, slimmer and more blemish-free, it's the latest chapter in a backlash against the use of airbrushing and other techniques in ads and magazines.
The video has racked up thousands of views and attracted almost as many comments - overwhelmingly positive. It seems we are reassured by reminders that however hard we try to look like the model on the cover of our favourite glossy, it's never going to happen without the help of a healing brush, liquify tool or gaussian blur. None of these are available to buy in a tube just yet, but the video imagines a world where they could be bought and applied as part of our daily beauty regime.
If you've not yet seen the video, check it out below - it's a clever set of ideas neatly presented.
