RedLaser (Android/iPhone/Windows) Want to compare prices on everything you might buy? Get Redlaser on your iPhone, Windows or Android phone and you can scan barcodes of all types. The software finds alternative retailers near you, and even gives information on allergens found in the products. FREE

Nectar App (all major platforms) Unless you're a Nectar collecter, this one will hold little appeal for you, but for those collecting points at Sainsbury's, Homebase and the myriad Nectar eStores, there's no reason not to download this free ap (they already have a stack of data on you if you've got the card). The app lets you connect Nectar points online while you shop on your phone, and also uses geolocation to guide you towards nearby shops where you can spend or collect your points. FREE

eBay App Still possibly the most useful shopping app of them all, the eBay app, available on all major platforms, is a must-have for the serious eBay buyer or seller. Keep track of your auctions discreetly and in real time, whether you're on the move, at work or at you cousin's wedding - and click your way to a winning bid.
