women-prefer-chocolate-to-sex.pngEarlier today, Twitter users gave a collective sigh at the latest bit of 'research' on women and computer games: apparently we now prefer video games to sex. Haven't we heard this one before on more than a few occasions?

In this case, a popular UK snack brand had interviewed a sample of gamers, which included an unspecified number of women. Of this sample, they'd taken a smaller sample of hard-core geek girls who game online, and asked them how much they enjoyed various activities. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the sampling, they'd then found that 84% of these women enjoy gaming but - whoah there - only 70% enjoy sex.

Now don't get me wrong: I enjoy 'waggling my joystick' as much as the next girl gamer. But online games are a whole other territory, and one that can swallow up people's whole lives. Is it very surprising then that online gamers of either gender don't have much time for nookie? Anyway, it seems us women aren't too keen on it anyway...here is a list of things that women have been said to prefer over sex:

1. Chocolate
Our almost supernatural obsession with chocolate is rooted in a grain of truth, but is generally much exaggerated. Sure, it's lovely stuff, but does it ever really beat a bit of quality nookie with a hottie? (that's a man, not a hot water bottle)

2. Food, generally
This one is a bit tougher, admittedly: we do love our grub with a passion, but food is sort of essential for supporting life, so I'm not sure it's really a fair point of comparison. Next!

3. Cuddling

Call me old-fashioned, but shouldn't this be part and parcel of a decent roll in the hay? It depends on what floats your boat of course, but fundamentally there's a time and a place for both.

4. Working Out

Nope sorry, not seeing the argument here at all...

5. Having a bath
Now we're talking...but we'd still rather take both if you're offering.

6. The Internet
See point 2: essential life-sustaining things don't count.

7. Sleep
This one may also have a nugget of truth in it. I always think us ladies need a little more, and are often keener to reach the land of nod than our male partners.

8. Reading
Hmm, sounds like whoever made that claim was dating someone who'd got a little bored.

9. Wine
See point 5: we wouldn't say no, but a drink and a date are a classic combination.

10. Shopping
*looks shifty* now this one might just be a contender...
