Katie Price's erstwhile consort Peter Andre has hinted today that he may return to the scene of the couple's first romantic meeting: the I'm a Celebrity jungle. The news made me think about how strongly we associate places with important events in our lives, and how painful it can be to return somewhere with memories of happier times. But (aside from the large cheque, let's try and keep cynicism to a minimum!) there are good reasons why the Mysterious Girl star might want to go back to the Island paradise.
What can be a stronger sign that you've moved on than being seen to enjoy a stint in an emotionally-charged environment that's loaded with memories of your ex? It's a challenge that I think is much under-rated - just as hard as hearing 'your song' or spotting your ex in the street - and is a crucial element of 'moving on'.
It takes a hard heart to breeze unphased into the scene of a past liaison, and even the toughest ice-maidens among us have confessed to wanting to take another route when confronted with going back to one of those special places. Even if the place in question is no more glamorous than a specific train station or run-down pub. Most people get over it after a little while, but I've known a woman who couldn't use Victoria station for years through fear or running into her ex or - worse - the memories.
