Would you send your five-year-old for a spray tan?

An Essex beauty salon has caused outrage by offering facials and makeovers for children as young as five, and is open to the idea of offering fake tan treatments too. This follows the news that a mother has bought her seven-year-old daughter a voucher for a boob job. Classy.

The salon, Trendy Monkeys Kids Fun Salon & Princess Parlour, is aimed exclusively at the under-13s. Owner Michelle Devine claims the salon helps girls 'exude confidence, glamour and the desire to look her best at all times, regardless of age'

Really Michelle? Do under 13s really need to 'exude glamour'? While playing dressing up in your mum's heels is fairly normal, being done up like a beauty pageant entrant is less so. Surely encouraging children to focus on looks and glamour from a young age is more likely to encourage insecurities later in life?

What do you think? A step too far or a bit of fun?
