What did you do this weekend?

cocktailimage.jpgJealous of your workmates fabulous-sounding weekend? Don't be. A new study suggests that a quarter of Brits lie about how the spent the weekend. Which means your smug colleague could have spent the weekend reorganising her wardrobe, rather than having a 48 hour party.

The survey, commissioned by Travelodge, took place with 5,000 participants. 27 per cent of those admitted to stretching the truth when discussing weekend plans.

When it comes to what people usually exaggerate, Saturday night tops the list at 33 per cent,. 25 per cent claim they visited friends, while 17 per cent suggest they've gone to a dinner and 12 per cent boast of romantic meals. A further 10 per cent go all out and claim they've taken a break away.

There's several theories as to why people are lying about their weekends. Some are simply jealous of the exciting weekends of their contemporaries, while others are shattered from the working week and want to sleep all weekend. There's always that long list of chores that need doing too.

So, do you ever stretch the truth regarding your weekend?
