It's been a busy final weekend for the X Factor. Firstly Cher, who was haunted by rumours of teenage tantrums and favouritism from her mentor Cheryl, was voted off leaving One Direction, Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle left to fight it out. Matt went on to win the show, leaving the lovely Rebecca in second place and pint sized popstars One Direction in third.
But Matt's win was somewhat overshadowed by the outfits of some of the guest stars. Both Rihanna and Christina Aguilera wore daring outfits exposing plenty of skin. And, according to the Daily Mail, plenty of parents are now up in arms about the lack of clothing on the show.
Rhianna chose a dress with a side slit all the way up to her waist (apparently Matt was a fan....) while Christina and her backing dancers opted for lingerie and tassled mini dresses. A final farewell from the X Factor rejects featured Chloe Mafia, the rumoured prostichav, wearing...well, very little.
I'd have to agree that the outfits were racy for a program aimed at families. It's been argued that the show is not for children, but surely children and teenagers are the ones most likely to vote for One Direction?
Arguably, Simon Cowell knows exactly what he's doing. He recently commented:
"I have actually enjoyed doing this series more than any other because it's been controversial, and that stops it being boring. As soon as you get bored, the audience get bored and there's no show. Simple as that."
If the papers are talking about his show the next day, good or bad, he's done his job.
