You gotta love The Daily Mail. After spending the last twenty years telling women that having a career and a family is bad and wrong (how dare we! How very dare we!), they've changed their minds! Now they've decided that the reason women don't get promoted is because they don't have kids. Because childless women are 'cold, odd and somehow emotionally deficient in an almost dangerous way'.
So, just to clarify, if women have kids, then we're ripping off the tax payers with our 'baby holiday'. But if we don't have kids it's because were hard faced cows who are destined to be lonely. And look out! We're dangerous! We're a danger to society if we don't have babies! We lack 'essential humanity' you see.
Does this 'essential humanity' come the second we give birth? Or when we're pregnant? Do we stop being 'emotionally deficient' the minute we breast feed? Or is it at the point we're getting laid and having an orgasm? When is it meant to get here?
Annoyingly, the 'researcher' the Daily Mail found to bang on about this tripe was actually a woman. That really gets to me. Women should be supporting each other's decisions. And having a family is a choice. Sometimes, women aren't lucky enough to have that choice. It's not something that should be berated or punished.
Dr. Gatrall's main source of research? Apparently 1400 internet forums. One has to wonder whether or not the comments on Daily Mail articles were part of that research.
