It was inevitable. No central heating + cold weather + early morning walks in the icy park + recovering immune system = BIG FAT COLD. Runny nose, headache, tonsils screaming for pain relief. And guess what I'm doing today? Writing vocals with The Young Punx! Owwwwww.
I bet Adele can commiserate with my woes - read more about her in the news (after the jump):
- Women make a stand against Mugabe - a band of 200+ women marched in Harare on Tuesday to protest against "the "corrupt, incompetent and illegitimate" regime of President Mugabe". As Zimbabwe reaches new desperate lows with the current cholera epidemic, Women Of Zimbabwe Arise (Woza) refuse to stay quiet, winning human rights awards and offering hope to ordinary Zimbabweans desperate for change.
- Back in Britain, Adele insists she's "not a big old feminist or nothing" - but adds "I don't want to be this girl who just sits there and is told what to say in interviews. My mum taught me how to be independent and not take any bullshit". The BRIT School was clearly bereft of a decent dictionary - maybe we should get leader of Woza, Jenni Williams, over to talk some sense to the kids?
- Women programmed to look after grandkids - scientists now believe the menopause is the "evolutionary result of competition between women and their daughters-in law from thousands of years ago", with nature deciding for us, apparently, that we should help with our grandchildren rather than having more kids in to our old age like other mammals. Interesting - but how do they explain the older male's propensity for gardening, DIY and crime biographies?
- Boris has best hair - is the first thing you think when you look at Boris Johnson - "great hair"? Really, no? Cos it turns out there are enough people in the world who do think that to crown him the winner of an illustrious Brylcreem poll for best male celebrity hair. But wait - we're referring to the Mayor of London as a celebrity now? I do hope that doesn't mean he skives off important work to take part in frivolous TV shows...
Off I sniffle...
