Obamarama floods Facebook status updates

obamaonfacebook.jpgThough at some point there will be news about something else, Obama-mania currently rules. Especially on Facebook status updates, which are providing a perfect measure of reactions so far (apart from the far-right point of view, that is - one's friendliness must have limits). But which type of status political commentator are you?

Are you the bona fide American, making us all envious of your genuine enthusiasm and joy?

Have you been donating your update to Obama-voting for the past few weeks, despite being born and raised in Rotherham?

Are you too tired and emotional to post anything other than DURNKKK BUT OBMA!!!1

Are you the voice of doom, already predicting the crashing disappointment to come?

Are you simply "over it"?

Are you ignoring this whole fuss altogether and just posting about your day?

People, we all have these friends, so post your most preposterous Facebook status update reaction in the comments. Here is my own personal favourite:

XXXX is OBAMA JAPAN!!! watch this!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7JwbxjzrGE.

This election must have been the most live-blogged event ever. I came into my living room at some ungodly hour during the proceedings to find my housemate, laptop in hand, with about half a dozen different blogging and chat platforms open at once, all beeping and buzzing every few seconds. I'm surprised networks didn't come crashing down!

'Fraid I'm the guilty party here, I live in Manchester, UK but have been posting Obama related links for weeks and my status changed throughout election night to whatever Obama was ahead by (Jaime: 126 to Obama!!! YaY!!) 'till he became president. I then posted links to all the UK papers anouncing him as president. I was rather excitable and I apologise to my friends :-(

(except the ones who were there with me, they were just as bad!)

  • As a bona fide American, I'm SICK OF IT ALL! If people are really your friends in real life, then you know how they feel and have probably had intelligent discussions with them beyond one line quips, and if they're not your real friends then you probably don't care what they think.

Also, I know what happens in America affects the rest of the world (sorry about the stock market, xoxo!) but it is kind of annoying to see so many people from other countries commenting so fiercely (and snarkily).

  • "XXXX knows Obama knows the only place to go from here is down and wonders whether he's briefly considered faking his own death to go out on a high."

    Yeah. That'll be my boyfriend.

"XXXXX(of no set political persuasion) follows this kind of news a lot & thinks the West is getting carried away with Obama..."

"XXXX is so shitty she feels like punching someone in the knees :(."

    One from each side perhaps.....?
