We are skeptical, to say the least. An article in Marketing Week looks at advertisers' attempts to appeal to women. More often than not, it seems that making something female-friendly means making it... pink. This patronising 'pink up' has long been rife in the world of mobile phones of course (Motorola is releasing a jewel-shaped mobile handset called 'Moto Jewel') but how far does the sickly claw of this colour extend? Can't one buy a beer, a computer, a bar of chocolate any more without encountering the appropriately-coloured 'girlie' option?

It all reminds me of this brilliant article from Germaine Greer, last year. "Nothing beautiful was ever pink". And at some point, check out the Top 10 Pink Handsets gallery over on Shiny Shiny and see if you agree. But first look at our gallery of pink monstrosities/guilty pleasures!
