Thursday news: Aimee Mann, strip clubs, plus-size fashion, army wives, sex ed
Everyone likes Aimee, don't they? Go see her at the indigo02 tomorrow night.
Should strip clubs be thought of as 'sex establishments' and not just relocated away from residential areas - but forcibly shut down? Cath Elliott thinks so: "Lap-dancing, pole-dancing, peep-shows, strip clubs and prostitution don't just harm those women who are directly involved or those unfortunate enough to live nearby, but all of us. The sex industry degrades all women: it helps to foster the attitude that women exist for men's sexual pleasure, it reinforces sexist stereotypes, and it perpetuates the commodification of women's bodies and the growing pornification of our society."
High-end fashion for plus sizes can only be a good thing.
Army wives and girlfriends (the article says WAGS but I can't bring myself to) (even if I kind of just did) go for manoeuvers on Salisbury Plain to get a taste of their blokes' lives. Next, the hubbies get a flavour of their partners' lives by spending months alone, worrying about watching the news?
What kind of sex education did you get at school? (Don't say 'a practical one!') We never had the banana/condom thing, sadly. But now it's finally compulsary.
