Dolly Poll: Who has the control in your house?
The powers of decision-making have, traditionally, been symbolised by the household battle for the zapper. Stereotype dictates that the man's the fat controller in the home, with the last word on whether everyone watches Top Gear or 10 Years Younger, but all that might be changing as new stats suggest that (American) family life may be more balanced than we thought.
27 percent of those polled said women control the remote; 26 percent said that men do; and 25 percent say the couple decide between them. This very interesting piece looks at the evidence that it's actually technology that's helping to even out the gender roles. Although, as one of the comments says "I hardly know anyone whose relationship revolves around the man being 'in charge' and making the decisions". Who has the control in your home?
