Ever read any Mills & Boon? Any good? After a century (a century!) of bosses and secretaries, sailors, soldiers and policemen, mysterious dark strangers and pliable females melting at the touch of their lips, the most famous series of romance novels is ready. Ready to put out its first hardcore erotica line.
The imprint 'Spice' will come to the UK in 2009, and will represent a break from all the conventions of previous Mills & Boons books. Characters can have raunchy sex, god forbid, without an "emotional connection between the heroes and heroines."
The Spice titles will feature ménage-à-trois lakeside holidays, stolen trysts between a Texas Ranger and a wanted (in every sense) temptress, 'blackjack bondage' in Vegas, and sexy wizards. Mills & Boon might be ready; I'm not sure I am.
A happy ending remains par for the course.
