Is male make-up a feminist issue?

stu1.jpgI don't want to go on endlessly about manscara, mantyhose etc - but the arguments still haven't died down. And where there are debates, Dollymix must go. Mark Simpson makes the interesting point that men have been altering their appearance for ages, but have been denying it to maintain the myth that men naturally look that good - while women 'need a bit of help'. I enjoyed this line: "men who prefer women are probably more likely to be interested in makeup than the kind who prefer men - which is why some of them protest so much. They know that if they give in to their urges, they'll look like Louis XIV." But do we like blokes on our turf? And although men who like women might like make-up - do women who like men like them to wear it? Are you still there? Hello?

ARGGHHH! I came up with an idea for a line of male makeup products years ago, but everyone I told about it scoffed at me and, not being independently wealthy, I had no money to get it started. Now Gaultier is coming out w a line for men, and there's another line out there, too, V400 something or other.

I can't tell you the number of times guys have said to me, "you [women] are so lucky, you get to cover up your flaws with makeup."

But truthfully, I would never want to date a man who cares even a third as much about his looks as I do mine.

I don't mind a guy in a bit of eyeliner occasionally, but then I fancy gothy and emo guys. I'd worry if I guy was borrowing my fake tan and sparkly lip gloss though, and I'd be miffed if a fella looked better than me :O)
