Dolly Poll: What do you make of wedding lists?

So, wedding lists, we meet again. There was sense to it once; couples didn't live together until they were married. They didn't have, er, plates. But nowadays everyone has everything, don't they? So what place does the wedding list have in today's mad, materialistic world full of resentful wedding guests, resented toasters, rented cakes and hate? I don't mean to sound cynical. Come, vote or comment over the page...

A look at an inspiring family and how breakfast clubs and after school activities have changed their lives

Why do people feel entitled to a present because they are getting married? You don't give out a list of things you want for your birthday (well, maybe when you're 8 years old...)
I find it very presumptuous.

It really depends on the couple. We used Oxfam Unwrapped so our guests could "buy us" clean water for a village, school books, condoms, etc. Some people didn't like Oxfam so donated to other charities. The only thing we wanted was to make the world a slightly better place - and we got what we wanted.

But then, we'd been together ages and there are only so many new toasters a couple needs.

If you're starting off your life together, why not ask your family and friends for some help?

What gets me is couples who have everything already and the only think on their wedding list is a new LCD TV....
