I don't know why there aren't more women in electronics. I guess it still doesn't have a great image, despite being as creative, intricate, social and beautiful as any more 'feminine' craft. But all human life is here, on the internet, and we see it as our Dollymix responsibility to bring you inspirational women wherever we find them. Lady Ada's website is such fun it's pretty much guaranteed to trigger the inner geek in anyone with a basic sense of curiosity about the world. She's an electronics whizz with a mischievous streak and here are some of the things she's made...
(Pictured: the Altoids 'minty' MP3 player.)
This 'zapper' is called the TV-B-Gone because it turns off tellys! "Tired of all those LCD TVs everywhere? Want a break from advertisements while you're trying to eat? Want to zap screens from across the street?" Yes, yes, yes! You can buy kits and there are step-by-step instructions on the site. Truly, she thought of everything.

Don't you hate it when your ipod runs out and you don't have your recharge wire or a plug socket, and you're going to be on the train for like another three hours? Weep no more. Lady Ada introduces The Minty Boost - a usb charger made out of an altoid mints tin. So simple. So beautiful. So... mysteriously camouflaged. It's like something a suburban lady spy might use. Goodness.

More ambitious among you might want to have a go at the Game Grrl. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it is the coolest. Whether we believe that Lady Ada really just had all this stuff lying around is another matter...
