Will Netball become an Olympic sport? Here's hoping...we might even win!

Despite being the most popular team sport in the world for women, with over 20 million participants in more than 70 countries, Netball isn't an Olympic sport.

The good news is, the England Netball Association and The Co-operative Group are leading a campaign to change this by the 2016 Olympics. Gordon Brown has said that he'd like to see netball included in the 2012 programme as a showcase event, which is no surprise as it's already a core part of the Commonwealth Games. So will it ever make it to the Olympics? Well, over 17,000 people have joined a facebook group saying it should, and Dollymix agrees.

Need more reasons to support this campaign? Well, England are currently ranked 3rd in the world at netball, so we might even stand a chance of scooping a Gold medal.

i think netball should be in the olimpics because i play it in my school and im goin to be the captain

I cannot belive that netball is not already an olympic sport. I really hope that it can be included from 2012 onwards

I AGREE NETBALL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN 2012. HOWEVER I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE GAME OPENED UP TO MEN ALSO. IN THE INDOOR NETBALL FRATERNITY WE DO NOT EXCLUDE MEN BUT ACTIVELY ENCOURAGE THEM. WE ALSO PLAY MIXED TEAMS. ARE YOU AWARE THERE IS AN ENGLAND INDOOR NETBALL TEAM THAT INCLUDES U21 GIRLS, OPEN LADIES, MEN AND MIXED. (INDOOR NETBALL ASSOCIATION ENGLAND) WE PLAY 6'S AND 7'S. OUR GAMES ARE PLAYED IN NETTED COURTS WHERE THE BALL NEVER GOES OUT OF PLAY. MENS NETBALL IS ACCEPTED IN OTHER COUNTRIES SO WHY NOT IN ENGLAND. COME ON GIRLS, LADIES OR WOMEN WE WANTED EQUALITY SO LET MEN IN. INCLUSION NOT EXCLUSION.
