1. Michael J Fox as Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy. Surely the original and best mid-twenties actor to be cast as a teenager. By the third film his face has filled out a bit and it's really starting to stretch credulity, but like that other Fox, Fox Mulder, we want to believe. MJF is like 90 now and has Parkinsons' but he still has the boyish charm, and even though he's beginning to look a bit like a quivering Declan Donnelly I think it's fair to speculate that we still would.
2. Shia LaBeouf. In spite - or perhaps because of - his stupid porn star name, Shia is shaping up to be a great comic actor. We loved him in Transformers. We thought he gave aging Harrison Ford a run for his money in Indiana Jones. Harrison won't be able to chase baddies forever; watch your back old-timer.
3. Michael Cera is that quirky looking one from Juno and Superbad. Seriously - stick with him, he's a grower. It's something of a relief to discover he was born on the 7th of June 1988... as of Monday he's cleared 20. Drink it in, girls, he's a man now.
4. John Gordon Sinclair was sort of the Michael Cera of his day. His career high was 1981 film Gregory's Girl. The film featured a number of potential suitors for Gregory, including Clare 'Altered Images' Grogan, and - slightly incestuously - Gregory's younger sister. The whole thing was filmed on a Scottish housing estate for about 7 pence and features some of the loveliest teen romance scenes you'll ever see. The fashion is good too.
5. In the days before Matthew Broderick was just SJP's plus one, he was a l337 hack3R who brought the world close to enormous nuclear disaster. How did he do this? By hanging around with a lycra-clad Ally Sheedy and hacking into the US military network using a giant beige phone and a computer named Joshua with an inexplicable obsession with playing 'a nice game of chess'. All worked out in the end, but arguably the best part is when he cracks the school computer (the password is 'PENCIL' I think, try it!) and changes his girlfriend's grades. And with that grade change, our obsession with the nerds was born.
