Hands up who cares about Angelina Jolie?

ang.jpgNot a terribly sisterly post, I know, but one I think had to be written. Everywhere I turn it's Angelina news, but... why? Is anyone actually interested in whether or not she has managed to gestate yet more children for her superbrood? For those that are, the rumour seems to be that she's had twin girls. For those that aren't, shall we have a little bitch? I mean, yes yes, she sure is good-looking. But we forget - she's not a model, she's an actress. And as far as I can tell, she hasn't been in a good film since the excellent (but possibly cursed, given how both the leads have turned out) Ang-Winona vehicle Girl, Interrupted. See, I don't hate the woman, don't get me wrong. I wish her no ill. I just have no interest in her or her life. Now is that so wrong?

Saint of Hollywood? Give me a break. She is no saint. She is being idolized. What garbarge. She is about as anti-American as you can get. Hates the troops. Just as her due dates arrive, she runs to a foreign country to have her kids so they don't have U.S. citizenship. She hates the U.S. but has no problem working and living here and scoffing at her fan base which I heard is dwindling. What a joke. She should stop having kids and raise the ones she has now. Any mother if 2 or 4 would be busy, but 6? This goes to show that the kids will end up in the hands of nannies. I don't hate her, I just hate the obsession with her pregnancy and her life. I doubt she hates the attention. As soon as she announces a pregnancy, she runs full time in front of the cameras. That is her personal choice, and I really don't care too much about that as much as I care about her disdain for the U.S. and our military. She and that idiot Brad Pitt need to move permanently out of the U.S. Marianne Pearl is no saint either. There are a lot of people who lost their spouses over in Afghanistan and Iraq. The military people dying didn't make a selfish choice like Daniel Pearl did. I have no idea why a movie was made about his widow. Pathetic. Why not make movies about the families left behind when a U.S. soldier dies?

I completely agree. I think I feel quite sorry for her. It's quite hard to ignore the constant coverage we are bombarded with, it's almost like we're being forced to have an opinion, and those of us that don't, or who have an opinion that differs from that of the masses (be it media driven or otherwise) are seen as slightly odd. Personally, I say good luck to her, in the nicest possible way. She's is fortunate (and well off) enough to be able to bring children into the world and give them a loving and secure life, and that in itself is a great thing.

  • What annoys me most about this over-coverage is that the moment she screws up in any particular, out will come the knives and the ominous sounds of sharpening.

The media loves to build celebrities up only to tear them down.

  • I have no feelings for Angelina Jolie either way really. But I guess we all just like staring at beautiful people, and the thought of those two procreating seems to send everyone into paroxysms of excitement over what their combined genes will create.

I think the media attention for her pregnancy is totally over the top, and something Angelina herself must dislike.

I think it's because of Brad Pitt, and the idea of her as the saint of hollywood. I don't mind her, but I agree about her movie choices - not always right despite her excellent performance in 'a mighty heart'
