Only 6 women of the 25 Funniest People In America are funny without the help of a man

Tina Fey - #3 Funniest Person in America Entertainment Weekly has announced it's list of the 25 funniest people in America, and I'm happy to report that there are actual women on the list. Real. Live. Women.

However, what bugged me is that only six of the ten women named on the list appear to be funny without the help of men. A lot of the women appear as the Token Vagina in a Male Posse, like Samantha Bee as part of The Daily Show group and Leslie Mann as part of her husband Judd Apatow's Posse. Or, like Amy Sedaris and Amy Poehler, they were simply named as being half of a duo. How annoying is that? However, my four most favorite women in the entire Celebrity Universe were on the list, so that was sort of exciting.

Find out who the funny women that made it to the list are after the jump!

1. Leslie Mann (as the Token Vagina and Wife in Judd Apatow's Posse)

3. Tina Fey

4. Samantha Bee (as the Token Vagina in The Daily Show group)

8. Amy Poehler (with her husband Will Arnett)

10. Kristen Wiig

13. Ellen DeGeneres

16. Amy Sedaris (with her brother, David Sedaris)

20. Diablo Cody

23. Sarah Silverman

24. Catherine O'Hara

Wow. Only 10 women? And only 6 of them appear on their own? Blargh.

that is pretty weird to mention them together.. like, will arnett isn't funny without amy poehler? (and obviously the other way around). i love those two, by the way.. he's so adorable, and she's kinda hot, in a funny, strange looking way. and amy and david -- just weird! i love them both seperately.. hm.

I think Amy and David Sedaris should have been two separate listings. Ditto Amy Poehler and Will Arnett. Just because you are related to/married to someone doesn't negate your individual talents. And obviously all of those people give awesome individual performances.

Also, where's Sarah Vowell? She cracks me up at least as much, if not more, than David Sedaris in her books and on This American Life.
