On Saturday night the fantastically funny Kathy Griffin won the Outstanding Reality Program award for her show My Life on the D-List at the GLAAD awards. Kathy, who recently was the cover girl for The Advocate joked that, "I got the Michael Kors dress, the H. Stern jewelry and [stylist] Robert Verdi put me together. I didn't let a straight person near me tonight."
TR Knight talked about the murders of gay teens Lawrence King and Simmie Williams and blasted republican Sally Kern for the horrible remarks she made about gay people. Janet Jackson was presented the Vanguard Award by Ellen DeGeneres, and Cindy Crawford accepted the Pioneer Award on behalf of the late photographer Herb Ritts. Cindy Crawford was famously photographed by Ritts for the cover of Vanity Fair whilst pretending to shave singer KD Lang, and the photo was auctioned off for $22,000 at a live auction after the awards.
Other winners at the 2008 GLAAD awards included:
* Stephen F. Kolzak Award: Rufus Wainwright
* Outstanding Drama Series: Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
