The incredibly fabulous Danika Patrick is now the first woman in history to win an IndyCar race after edging out fellow driver Helio Castroneves to win the Indy Japan 300. The Japan 300 was Patrick's 50th race, and she beat Helio by a close 5.8594 seconds. The 26-year-old Patrick said of her win,
"It's been a long time coming - this is fabulous. It was a fuel strategy race, but my team called it perfectly for me. I knew I was on the same strategy as Helio and when I passed him for the lead, I couldn't believe it. I knew there was a good reason for coming to Japan. I want to thank my team, the fans and everyone who supported me. I've been asked so many times when and if I could win my first race and finally, no more of those questions."
A massive congratulations to Danika!!
