Apparently, in an effort to keep women as far away from its site as possible, IGN.com has a regular feature called Chick Fight, a poll where readers can vote on which powerful and strong woman would win a fight. The current version is Terminator vs. Cylon where readers are supposed to vote on who would win a fight between Cameron, the Terminator from the Sarah Connor Chronicles or Number Six the female, human-looking Cylon.
My issue isn't with the fact that the site is wondering would win if these two women ever had to fight each other. I am not against imaginary fights. What I think is ridiculous is that this features only on imaginary fights between powerful women and that these women are so completely sexualized.
Each combatant has proven herself adept at kicking ass and looking good while doing it, but only one lady killer can win.
If these were Arnold and the old silver suit guys from the 80s, this copy would sound ludicrous
What is up with taking away the strength of female characters and re-casting them as bimbos? I like the new Terminator: she is tough, kicks ass, gets kicked back and gets up again. I like that in an action hero, be they male or female.
