Kate Moss vs Agyness Deyn - the supermodel showdown hits the high street

So apparently theres this bird called Kate or something who is quite popular in the fashion world? And then there's this other girl called Laura (who prefers to be called Agyness) who's also quite well known for going to parties in amazing get-ups and looking like an electro princess on the cover of Vogue. And this week the two of them are battling it out on the high street for supermodel supremacy. One of them has the power of Giles Deacon, uber designer, behind her. The other? Topshop...
Yep, that's right. Kate Moss for Topshop goes into it's five hundred and twentieth season now (or that's what it feels like) as Kate paddles about in the sea in yet another tea dress that I shouldn't like but secretly do. She's also bringing us school blazers with pinstripe linings, loadsa jeans, long dresses that don't look good unless you're, er, Kate Moss, and some boho stuff that's a bit Sienna Miller circa 2004.
Meanwhile, 'new' model Agyness Deyn (the 'fitty from a chippy') is the face of the new collection from Gold by Giles Deacon at New Look, which hit stores today. Before Agyness took over, the celeb face of the range was Drew Barrymore and I have to confess I bought a dress after seeing it on her, only to find it didn't look as good on me (Shock! Horror!). Something tells me the same will happen with this range, which promises us 80s graphic stripes, pink paneled dresses and some East London chic. Sadly the website seems to only have the filler stock and none of the good stuff we've seen Aggy modeling recently.
The big question is, who's the REAL top model? Well, let's compare them shall we, using a tried-and-tested trashy gossip magazine technique. See, the Easter holidays begin tomorrow, and I switched my brain off in readiness...
Big shocks!
- Kate. Where do we start? Drugs, drink, Pete Doherty. Need I go on.
- Aggy. Er, she lied about her age when she started out. That's it.
Winner - Mossy. Nobody can compete with cocaine Kate when it comes to column inches. That said, if we're talking positive publicity, Agyness wins it by a mile.
Talking the talk!
- Agyness appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and charmed us all.
- Kate has said about two lines in a Virgin advert and one in a Rimmel one.
Winner - Aggy. Kate doesn't talk much. Perhaps it's for the best.
Glossy snaps!
- Kate's done dozens of cover and every ad campaign from Chanel to Burberry.
- Aggy's booked Burberry too, and was on the cover of Vogue very early in her career.
Winner - Kate. She's got experience on her side, but Aggy's catching up very quickly.
Friends in high places!
- Who doesn't Kate Moss know? Devoted mates include Sadie Frost, Kelly Osbourne, Bobby Gillespie and Sir Phillip Green.
- Aggy doesn't go out anywhere without GBF Henry Holland. She's also pals with the East London fashion set - think Gareth Pugh and (of course) Giles Deacon.
Winner - We'll call it a tie. Kate might have loads of celeb BFFs, but Aggy's hanging with the hip crowd now.
Rockstar boyfriends!
- Kate's snogging Jamie Hince from The Kills
- Agyness is loved up with Josh Hubbard from The Paddingtons
Winner - well, Kate's also pulled Johnny Depp and Doherty. So I suppose she wins.
The clothes
Well, we'll leave this on up to you. Who's your winner? Kate or Agyness?
