For all you kick ass chicks who love roller derby, I've got some good news for you. Firstly, if you're in the UK, you will be happy to know that the London Rollergirls will be facing down the Glasgow Roller Girls in their first ever interleague match on March 29th! The match will take place at the Tottenham Green Leisure Center and will only cost £7, which can be purchased at the London Rollergirl's website. These matches are describe as being much more than just a match, as they have "a bar, half-time entertainment, DJs playing punk, pop, indie and electro" plus, the girl's uniforms are apparently one of the best parts of the sport, as some of their favorite things to wear are "stripy socks, tutus, fake black eyes". But if that's not enough for you, they're also known to wear "gold lamé hot pants". Saucy.
Secondly, roller girls, the fabulous Ellen Page will soon be starring in Drew Barrymore's directorial debut in the movie Whip It! a film about female roller derby. IMBD describes Page's character as an "indie-rock loving misfit" who deals with her "small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin". Page says that she "can't wait to kick ass on wheels", and we can't wait to watch her do it!
