The Oprah Empire has just gotten a little bigger, ladies. Oprah Winfrey now has her own TV Channel, called OWN, which stands for Oprah Winfrey Network. (But, is also fun to say because it's Oprah's own network! See what I did there?!) Discovery Communications have struck a deal with Oprah to where they will just give her their Discovery Health channel, and change it to OWN. Yup! They just said, "O hai, Oprah! Wouldn't you like to have your own TV Channel? Yes. Yes you would."
Oprah says, "For me, the launch of 'The Oprah Winfrey Network' is the evolution of the work I've been doing on television all these years and a natural extension of my (syndicated daytime) show." D Listed point out that while Oprah may not have announced a CEO of OWN yet, you can bet your knickers it's going to be her BFF, Gayle.
