At a concert in London, at the beginning of the war in Iraq, the lead singer of the Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines said 12 words that forever changed her bands' career: "And we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." The documentary Shut up and Sing documents the hate and threats the Dixie Chicks received from former fans, the media, and politicians for simply exercising their freedom of speech. This video is an amazing look at how sexism played such a strong role in fueling people's hate for the Chicks.
