Shilpa Shetty has apparently been arrested by authorities at the Mumbai Airport where she was trying to get to the opening of the Miss Bollywood musical in Berlin. Shilpa is being charged with violating India's "anti-obscenity" laws after Richard Gere hugged her and kissed her several times on the cheek at an AIDS awareness event after Shilpa shouted "No condoms, no sex!" It's reported that after the original incident in April, the Indian government issued a warrant for Gere's arrest and banned Shilpa from traveling abroad, however, the Supreme Court was said to have lifted the ban. The Mumbai Airport said they had no record that the ban had been lifted.
Dale Bhagwaga, Shilpa's spokesperson, said that, "She called me in the middle of the night and was in tears," Apparently Shilpa told Dave, "I can understand something like this if I'd committed a criminal offence. But what was my offence, when I'm just an actor, going to perform a musical on foreign land."
