Diablo Cody, how I heart thee. Having gone through and read the archives of Diablo's blog Pussy Ranch last summer, and then reading her memoir Candy Girl: a year in the life of an unlikely stripper, she has definitely become a woman that I look up to. While I don't exactly think that stripping is the most empower thing in the world, Diablo really made me *lighten up* a bit when it comes to stripping and the sex industry. Her memoir was probably best described by Minnesota Daily who say that it is"neither a horror story about the sex industry nor simply a series of funny characters...this makes it more of an honest account than a tell-all or slapstick".
After her success with Candy Girl, Diablo then wrote the screenplay for the movie Juno which has been directed by Jason Reitman and stars Ellen Page, Michale Cerea and Jennifer Garner. And if that wasn't exciting enough, Showtime recently announced that it will produce the pilot TV show called The United States of Tara, which Diablo wrote and executive produced, and is an original idea by Steven Speilberg. [insert "You Go Girl"-esque saying here]
