00211~Camping-Posters.jpgEvery once and a while I come across a news story that blows my mind to so many little pieces I can't function for hours at a time. This would be one of those stories. Apparently, a camp in Windsor, N.S. has denied nine-year-old Lydia Houk permission to join the camping and fishing outdoor program at the camp because it was for boys only. Lydia's mom Lorna said that they "realized it was for boys only" but that they obviously "couldn't imagine they wouldn't give [Lydia] the thumbs up to come along".

But, the municipal twat warden of the camp, Richard Dauphinee, told Lydia that while the outdoor stuff was boys only, she could join the Glamorous Girls camp, which includes a trip to a spa for manicures and pedicures, instead. Never mind that Lydia, rightfully, couldn't give a shit about that stuff.

The Municipality of the District of West Hants that runs the camps claims that these were pilot programs, and that's why Lydia couldn't join - that and,"The girls wanted to make jewelery and have pedicures and manicures. That was their type of thing. The boys wanted to go fishing and play this par-three golf thing." Plus, they say they're just going with what the majority wants, considering Lydia's family was the only one to complain Dauphinee says: "I really can't cater to one person." Yeah, why cater to the freak girl who wants to fish instead of getting a manicure?! Why, it would ruin everything!

Dauphinee swears, "this is by no means discrimination or anything", but shows us that he just can't really wrap his mind around the situation: "The place we're going fishing is five minutes from her house, so if there were that big a concern, her mother or her parents could have taken her. I would have taken her myself but that wouldn't be the thing to do; I'd probably get accused of something." God almighty.
