Are "women only" trains and hotels really the answer to sexual harassment?

women_only.jpgSee, I really like it when I can point out positive and non-enraging articles on Dollymix. There was an excellent article written in today's Guardian by Jessica Valenti called "Is segregation the only answer to sexual harassment?"female beaches in Italy, and the US hotel offering women only floors that offer "chenille throw blankets and special bath products (you know, stuff that girls like)", Valenti points out that while it's great to have a "safe place" for women,"shouldn't we be targeting the gropers and harassers"?

Personally, I'm all for things that target women's safety, however, shoving us into different train carriages and locking us in "more secure hotel rooms" isn't the point is it? It's not addressing the issue of men thinking they can touch, grab and group whatever slice of ass happens to be within reach. As Jessica puts it, "After all, women should have the right to be safe anywhere and everywhere."
