susan_G.jpgThe Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation have just created the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender National Advisory Council. The council has been created to "identify and address gaps in breast health and breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment specifically as it pertains to this under-represented and often medically-underserved community". The LGBT council will help speak to breast cancer community on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals, and hopes to "reduce disparities" breast cancer mortality, and "increase engagement" in the fight against breast cancer.

If you would like to become a advisory council member for the LGBT group, they are selected on the basis of written nominations, and must serve on a voluntary basis for three years.
