Bridezilla perpetuates female stereotypes, and its contestants aren't exactly helping
Something insane happens to women when they get engaged, right? We're made to believe that brides-to-be go through this amazing transformation from being seemingly normal and reasonable women, to becoming illogical, and irrationally demanding creatures from hell, practically overnight! Or so it seems. Sure, there are some women who behave like this, but I'm willing to guess they're in the minority. However, it's TV shows like Bridezilla that relish in the idea that those crazy bitches in white will do anything for their Dream Fairy Tale Wedding.
For example, Bridezilla recently created a challenge for 15 brides-to-be to invade Times Square in wedding gowns, stuff their faces as fast as they can with wedding cake, and whichever bride ate the most cake the fastest, won $25,000 cash. How fun to watch a bunch of desperate women stuffing their face with cake to win money for their Perfect Wedding. Where's the self-respect? Anyone? *Ugh*
