The Lifetime Channel, you know -Television For Women, has apparently been struggling with its ratings, and has announced its second new chief executive in two years. Now, Lifetime is some what of a guilty pleasure for me. Their movies are so dramatic and cheesy and generally crap (but with a moral and a message, mind you) that it doesn't surprise me that they're struggling for viewers, and firing their chief executive. However, Lifetime is gunnin' for an (extreme?) makeover with their new big cheese: Andrea Wong. Andrea Wong is an executive vice president of ABC Entertainment, who has made shows like Dancing With the Stars, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, The Bachelor, and Wife Swap popular.
What does this tell us? That Lifetime 2.0 is more than likely going to consist of smutty, pointless reality TV shows where stereotypical beauty and "desperate for love" women are put on display for all of us to laugh through their pain and cry through their melodrama. What better way to increase views than that?
