Jacqui Oatley is making TV history by being the first female commentator on the football programme Match Of The Day. Oatley played football at an amateur level, but had to give up playing after injuring her knee, and will now make her first appearance on the show during the Fulham and Blackburn game this weekend. Despite being the first woman to appear on the show in its entire 43-year existence, she says, "I don't think of it as breaking down barriers for women in sport. I do it for the same reason as any bloke does. I love my football." She also gives credit to Gabby Logan, saying that "she has done us all a favour, fronting a main channel". Oately also goes on to say, "She has become accepted and I think more women will be, in time." Let's hope so, Jacqui. Congratulations!
