In Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Heba Kotb is breaking down barriers for Muslim women by talking about sex openly on a TV show broadcast all over the Middle East. Her show is called The Big Talk where she says, "We talk about masturbation ... sex over the Internet. We talk about sex and Ramadan. We talk about the wedding night." It took Kotb three years of negotiations to get her show on the air, and the main reason she finally got her way, is because she only talks only about the sex allowed in the Quran: sex between husband and wife. Her liberal critics complain that she only talks about sex in a marriage, and ignores homosexuality and extramarital affairs, while her conservative critics think that sex shouldn't be talked about publicly. Perhaps in direct response to the conservatived, Kotb starts every show by saying, "Sex. Don't be afraid. Join me to talk about sex without shame." She also encourages Muslim couples to have more sex and is extremely blunt in her advice: "You have to have foreplay with your wife and you have to have sex with her frequently, not just when you want to." Amen, sister...Aaaaammmeeeen!
