Dollymix Cover Star: Julia Davis

julia_davis.jpgMagazine cover stars are so... *samey*- always the latest beauty with a film or fragrance to promote, or simply the next skeletal blonde queuing up to tearfully reassure the world about her weight issues. If Dollymix were a real paper magazine, we'd pick much more exciting ladies to adorn our covers. We probably wouldn't sell very well (mass appeal is key when it comes to the printed press), but we'd be happy (and maybe a bit poor).

This week, Julia Davis is our Dollymix Cover Star. Not only has she got one of those Emma Thompson faces that allows her to be plain or beautiful on demand (and often downright ugly if the role requires), but she's clearly a comedy writing genius and a hugely versatile actor. I'd probably try to convince her to dress up as Jill from her supreme, self-penned sitcom, Nighty Night, and would get her to pull one of those strangely alluring sneers she's so good at.

Julia's currently up the duff, carrying twins provided by fellow comedian, the lovely Julian Barratt, so a big preggers shot of her would be like some kind of dream come true. Plus, I'd question her ceaselessly about her relationship (which I believe she never talks about so I'd be wasting my breath) in the vain hope that she'd provide me with the surreal scenes of domestic bliss I've envisioned for the pair of them.
